THRIVE Community Groups

Thrive Community Groups is what we call our small home groups here at the Burlington Christian Reformed Church. Whether you are a long-time Christ follower, or if you are just trying to figure it all out, a community group is a place where real relationships start to grow and thrive in a relaxed atmosphere. It is a safe place to discover and learn more about yourself, others and God. It?s where seeds of teachings are planted and begin to take root and become real. It is a place where we can come together and help each other to thrive in our own lives as well as within the community.

GEMS

GEMS Girls' Clubs is a relationship building, club program created especially for girls! GEMS Clubs are offered in local churches all across the US and Canada.

Girls in first through eighth or ninth grades are eligible for membership.  In club, many fun and exciting things happen:

  • Participate in team building
  • Develop important life skills through badge activities
  • Learn how to apply the Bible to your life
  • Make creative and fun crafts
  • Participate in service projects that make a difference in other's lives
  • Find answers to challenges that face girls today

The purpose of GEMS Girls' Clubs is to bring girls into a living relationship with Jesus Christ. To help foster this all-important relationship between each girl and Christ, other relationships are nurtured as well - between girls and between girls and their counsellor (leader).

Girls in clubs are organized into small groups with one leader or counsellor for each group of six to eight girls.  And it is through these small groups, and the weekly interactions that take place in club that faith is nurtured and developed, and long lasting friendships are made.

The name GEMS Girls' Clubs is an acronym which stands for Girls Everywhere Meeting the Saviour. It clearly identifies the purpose for which the ministry was created.

Friendship Ministries

At Friendship, we minister with people who have mental impairments, not to them. We believe that we serve each other, and by learning and spending time with each other friendships are formed.

We believe that everyone is created in God's image and that redemption is a gift from God that is not dependent on a level of intelligence.

We also believe that our church is complete only when it includes all of God's own children and when all people are seen as equals-in God's eyes and in our own eyes.
